...Three great photos of Gloria Swanson from Spats White
Gloria Swanson with her old (then new!) Martin in 1917. This uke was her personal uke, not a Keystone Studios prop. It's the same uke she is seen playing in the classic short "Teddy at the Throttle" and the same uke she used to play for me sixty years later -- with ribbon intact!
Spats White with Gloria Swanson at her home, 1978
"Mainland" (all wood from continental US) made by Peter Kyvelos, Oud maker and a NEA National Heritage Fellow
Spats White with Gloria Swanson in the studio when Spats was producing her last television series, 1979
Body of uke, Osage Orange, top Calif Redwood, fretboard, head plate and pegs, California Laurel, binding Vermont Maple... and a touch of abalone...
...Five new uke photos from robert, founder Ukulele Conciousness
Pearl flame on heel is to commemorate the heel block, from wood salvaged from my fire damaged, 150 year old house
Stars on bridge commemorate the stars that hung in the windows of my boyhood neighbors who had family members in the service
This is Peter's second uke. His first was made of koa. Hawaiian.
Peter also is helpful with ukulele restorations since he fixed my father's Hawaiian koa pre-war (WW II) uke in 1976.
